Sunday School
On arrival, all riders are directed to the age-appropriate Sunday school class. We have several Adult Sunday school classes for any parents that choose to ride the bus, as well. Children under age 5 must be accompanied by an adult to ride the bus. Children in grades 1st-12th do not require an adult to be present but do need a signed permission form from their parent or guardian to ride.
Children’s Church
At the end of Sunday school, at approximately 10:45 a.m., children in grades 1st-6th attend our Children’s Church program at 11:00 a.m. All others attend the church service in the auditorium.
History
On February 1, 1967, the church voted to purchase a bus to use for trips and special occasions. It was not long before several of our men began to use the bus to pick up adults and children and bring them to church. As the number of riders grew, we were able to establish our first Junior Church in just a few short months. Over the next few years, we purchased more buses and by 1977, the Central Baptist Church’s Bus Ministry was operating 18 buses that picked up riders in Hattiesburg and the surrounding areas and averaged approximately 500 riders every Sunday.
Some of our adult members today are bus riders from years ago. They have many wonderful testimonies of how Central Baptist’s Bus Ministry has helped to change their lives!
